Does New York suck or does Paul have a chance in hell? Just curious. I have a friend from Brooklyn who's a hardcore liberal democrat that flipped her lid when she found out I was supporting Ron Paul.

NY will go for the liberals.

Paul and the theocrat don't have a chance.

Staten Island is the only republican borough. I went to a young republican meeting in manhattan and the numbers were just not impressive. I will say everyone there did like RP, and it was nice because we were all young professionals (not WoW playing kids living in their parents basements--as some of the other candidates supporters claim we are).
In general many people feel their vote is wasted if they don't vote Democrat. I haven't had much luck getting woman to believe in RP, most are for Hillary, mainly because she is a woman...so much for judging someone based on their character instead of what they are.

Depends on whether Huck and Rudy quit right after FL, or (I think) stick it out through Suer Tuesday. If the three MSM guys split the pro-war vote, a double digit outcome from Paul is possible and would loook decent. If Rudy prevails in the state, it locks a lot of delegates up and keeps them away from McCain and Romney, which is a good thing towards creating a brokered convention. Rudy may try to win NY if only for pride, or as a bargaining chip to buy a VP spot.

upstate new yorker here. im not to keen on ron's chances here. but me and all my friends are sure as hell voting for him :D

also, new york is a very democratic state (expect Hillary to do well). NY will be having a closed primary and the deadline to change parties expired many months ago. potential ron paul supporters who where very impressed with Ron's later debates will not be able to vote for him.

it's very unfortunate for those who will not get the satisfaction of selecting ron paul on super tuesday

Our state is very liberal... i converted some liberals to vote for ron, but they wouldnt change their voter status from Dem to Rep :( even my MIL woulnt. Why? "B/C ive been a DEM all my life, why change now!?" ugh- you can only do so much w/ some people. Im from westchester, and all the ladies at MIL's nail salon are all voting for Obama. Whem my MIL told them about Ron Paul they all said "WHOOOOOOO?????"

And many of the Rep's that I know want mccain, or like my Granny who wants Romney (b/c hes "cute":mad:)

On a good note, i have converted at least 15+ people, friends, family. I signed on as my local precinct leader,... dont know what else to do!

It doesn't really matter here. He certainly won't win the plurality, and NY is winner take all, so he can't pick up delegates as has been his strategy in most states.

We've been playing nice thus far... and we've been getting our asses kicked! If people don't understand subtle nuanced answers maybe we need to give them a dose of blunt hammer over the head reality.

:D

Flyer bank machines, gas pumps, and public restrooms with the following two flyers.
Cover a ten mile radius around polling stations.

FLYER ANYWHERE PEOPLE MIGHT STOP RIGHT BEFORE THEY VOTE!

You will need to do this repeatedly throughout the day as supporters of Romney and McCain will remove them.

1. McCain is an open border liberal!
2 Mitt Romney is a dishonest liberal!

I realize it is not nice but it is true and we need to be blunt because people don't seem to get it.
Big bold print is called for. If we don't all do this very simple task Ron Paul will not win.

Also we must put Llepard's ads in newspapers. Stop by the newspaper machine in the morning and manually put them in. Where this was done Ron Paul's vote percentage more than doubled!

The following thread is also essential:

I don't think Paul will do well going by opinion in my school, but he certainly has picked up support here and there. People who I wouldn't expect to be Paul supporters, are. But I'm guessing most people will go with McCain or Romney (I know, I know, what a crazy prediction).

I became aware of Paul after October 12th; the deadline to change your party affiliation to vote in the primary. So I'm kept from supporting him in terms of votes (not in terms of talking to others and making contributions!)

So while I think New Yorkers like Paul, they're probably either liberal and will vote Hillary/Obama or simply cannot vote for him according to the closed Republican primary.

So no, his chances are not very good here at all.

3 days ago, I talked to someone who had never heard of Ron Paul. She's interested but unfortunately is a Democrat and can't vote for him.

I predict around 71,400 votes for Ron Paul in New York, which would be 3.3% of the vote of 2,150,000 voters.

The prediction is made from the number of Precinct Leaders registered in New York on February 30 multiplied by 100. We'll see how accurate an estimate it is this evening.

Were not all like that, particularly upstate where if you look at past elections the rest of the state is more Republican aside from the major cities like NYC and Buffalo. But I suppose that is all that counts is those NYC liberal socialist borough votes.

Seems us upstate folks have no voice. I wish some day NYC and upstate would split into two separate states. The two are like night and day in all aspects.

RP doesn't have a chance in New York. It's a primary, a large state, Winner take all. There were no TV ads here. About 10% of the Syracuse meetup group is really active and a ton of people still ask "Who's Ron Paul?"

That may be so, but there are plenty of liberal leaning people, myself included, who have changed their party affiliation just to pull the Ron Paul lever on Super Tuesday. This is why I never understand why people of one party bash people of the other. You can't get elected from within your own party alone. You have to win people over.

That reminds me. Having voted for Ron, I can now leave the republican party! Where's that form? :D

I am pretty sure the deadline in NY was a lot later.

There were two deadlines.

If you were a registered voter, who desired to change to a Republican in order to vote for Ron Paul the deadline was October 12.

If you were a first time register, your deadline would have been in early January.

I fell in the first category. I made calls and spoke to people about this...pretty sure I had it right.

Most of the people have become sheep after years of socialist rhetoric.

Unfortunately, even those numbers were too optimistic. We got a better percentage because there was lower turnout. I guess a better measurement would've been taking the precinct leaders and multiplying it by 50 instead of 100. I was hopeful that a precinct leader represented roughly 100 voters interested in Paul (or would reach close to that many through canvassing, phone calls, etc.).
