This video was auto-generated from photos on rally.ronpaulplanet.org. The order of the photos is completely random. There's nothing hand-picked.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnN04Wuc1LE

It is planned that new videos will be generated regularly as people upload more photos.

In fact, I can auto-generate a new video daily if there is interest. Each video will have a different ordering of the photos. My concern is that the bandwidth could become expensive if I am hosting them on my server. I have a small version ( 320x240 ~ 20 Megs ) and a larger version ( 640x480 ) and even a DVD-ready .VOB version ( ~150 Megs ). If anyone has a server with good bandwidth and would be able to host/mirror the videos, please let me know.

Luckily I did not have much for lunch.

Great job though!

I like it the idea, but have some constructive criticisms for improvement.

The quick "wipes" from one photo to another really is annoying and gives me a bit of nausea. I strongly prefer you change to a simple "cut" from one photo to the next for all of your transitions (because of the speed of the transitions).

I also recommend, if it is possible, for you to abridge the member statements to show just a few words that are readible at that rate. Certainly a long three sentence statement is too much to read in 0.3 seconds.

I like the idea, but have another constructive comment.

Again, this is just my personal impression, but I would like to see the video with a little bit more time for each photo on the screen. I would prefer say, maybe half to two-thirds the number of photos per minute you are currently transitioning at. It just goes a bit too fast for my taste.

Thanks for your input. first, I happen to like the wipes. And second, the idea is to show that there is a TON of support. There is no expectation that anyone will actually read all of those comments. Even so, the video can always be paused if the viewer really wants to see what someone had to say.

Remember, all the source material ( photos and quotes ) are available on the rally website. So feel free to create your own...

I would love it if someone creates a better video. This was my first video effort, and was put together entirely with free/open source tools. ( google dvd-slideshow )

I like your idea of going super fast toward the end, but the super fast transitions last WAY too long. The superfast transitions begin at 2:25 and go to 3:35 (for an entire 60 seconds). I think the superfast transition is a nice novelty to throw in for maybe 5 or 10 seconds at the most at the end, but after 10 seconds, it gets IMHO really boring and annoying. 60 seconds of the superfast transitions is way more than I can stomach. I am giving you my personal impression, but frankly I would recommend you make some changes in this video based on my personal tastes. I am only speaking for myself, and I could be in the minority.....

I may generate a slower version at some point.

But with this video, I didn't want to bore people too much. And doubling the per-photo time would nearly double the video length -- 7-8 minutes? yikes!

For now, I thought it was impressive that even at that speed ( 20 pics per second ) the fast portion of the video plays for about 2 minutes.

Great vid Danda!
I agree with some of the comments, maybe you don't need to show all 1300+ pics in each video, that way it can be slowed down a bit.

How much bandwidth do you have? I get 1200 GB xfer for $5/mo with 50 GB storage via 1and1.com

I've been hosting with them for over 3 years with minimal issues.

btw, the new mosaic pic is up, 1301 faces and bigger source images this time.

Bandwidth -- not sure. I have a fair amount with my dedicated server, but I'm guessing that hosting a big video could blow the limit. I'll need to look into it.

About the video: I'm not going to remove any photos. The goal and "reason-for-being" of the video is to show that LOTS of people are supporting Ron Paul's message. Removing people is counter-productive to that goal.

I'm also not going to be slowing it down significantly, for reasons already stated in this thread. What I may do if I find more time to work on it, is add some interstitial photos during the "fast" part of the video. So it would go fast for 20 seconds, then show 1 or 2 slow, and speed back up. That sort of thing.

I've nothing against these suggestions however. So If anyone *really* wants to see them, I'd be happy to provide you with the input file to DVD slideshow so that you can make the mods and generate a vid yourself.

Danda,

I'm in complete agreement with you. The point is not to show everyone's face and text, but to slowly show RP supporters; the viewer gets the jist, and then continually faster slides show that in 4 mins, you can't show em all.

I think it's perfect, and wouldn't change a thing, except, I'd update it every 1000 users who signup.

Again, I think it's perfect. It really blew me away at how many RP supporters are out there, and we've only scratched the surface.

Does that program have the ability to put 4 pics per frame?
1400 pics at 4 pics a frame and 1 second each would be a bit less than 6 minutes.

Just tossing out ideas, I still think your first version is great and didn't mean to imply otherwise.

Why don't you do a 30 second version and turn it into a commercial?

Interesting idea. You mean tiling I guess. No, the slideshow software doesn't do that, but it could be scripted with other tools. However, we would then lose the subtitles. And anyway humans are better at processing one image at a time.

No worries. And I might still generate a bigger, slower version of the video so everyone's caption is readable. But it would be a one-time thing. Not for daily generation.

Also, if that's what people want to see, it's probably simpler just to create a DHTML slideshow on the website.

Loved it! Finally some original Ron Paul themed music I have heard that is damned cool. Both songs.. WE all individually kick royal PTB ass.

What is truly amazing to folks when I tell them about Ron Paul is that they kinda get it about The Constitution and such but when you point out the other countries in the world that are picking up on and promoting the ReLOVEution then they really perk up and have to find out because it does not sound like US politics anymore but a human phenomena. This is not politics and this is not a platform as one posters sig states. This IS a revolution.

Best Regards
Randy

I probably wouldn't be the best person to do that. I like programming and scripting. I don't have the least familiarity with "real" video editing tools. And I sure as hell wouldn't use my voice for a voice-over.

But I'm happy to lend technical assistance to anyone that wishes to do so.
