Ive seen lots of liberals use this to argue that Democrats are actually more fiscally conservative. While I agree Bush's spending has been atrocious, i approve of Reaganomics more than I do of Clinton or especially carter's spending. I know Ron paul had some criticisms of Reagan, but i think he'd agree Reagan was better than Clinton and Carter.

Is the key to interpreting this that Carter left office with a 12% inflation rate, and that the Reagan tax cuts lead to a rebound in real GDP growth?

the begin in the slowdown of the graph is the end of WW2 and increase n GDP as a reasult of the baby boomers enterting the economy.

the increase in reagan is military. the decrease during Clinton is the Newt bunch in Congress. The increase for Bush is cause we hate him.
