General Info
This would allow a text message reminder to come in to everyone's cell who is signed up on the list the day of any big major event. This would be great for money bombs, keeping people involved with canvassing, and getting things together for the Super Tuesday states and beyond.

I can get a list setup for pretty much next to nothing and we could promote being on the list to everyone with a cell phone, it works like this:

Text 'RPAUL' to such and such number to get signed up.

On the days of any event a text message would come right to the cell reminding people to stay involved.

I imagine people would like to see some more information on the specifics before donating.

Who is the service through? What events will you be using this for? Will you let the big money bomb/any big national event use this?

the official campaign should do this. I know "Team Mitt" does. But this grassrooots one is a good idea, as long as its managed well.

The major planned events will go out on the respective day.

The idea is basic, cheap, and effective. A database that sends SMS to a list of cell phone numbers.

This can even be later expanded to provide a learning point for people.

"Text LearnPaul to such and such number for more information on Ron Paul"
sends an automated response with another number to send for more info.

I'm partnered up with a company called Voitel, its a new company that provides the service and others such as cell service and home phone and broadband.

For 200 bucks it can provide a large increase in our communication.

i think this is great...It would be cool to have different levels of involvement...

I would take every text available.

Some may just want them on big events..

Would we have to pay per message sent out?

Would we have to pay per message sent out?

Nope, just for what you receive.

Sending texts costs nothing from home base.

Afternoon Bump.

I agree.

I posted this in the Campaign Suggestion Box couple months back:

The Short Message Service (SMS), often called text messaging would be useful.
Our cell phones (or Smartphone, PDA) become our memory aid.
Take some pressure off our "leaders".
No fancy crap just serious reminders.

Make it easy to join: People just send "JOIN" to RONPAUL (7667285).

The SMS service will be used to for action alerts.

-24 hour notice of:
Voter Registration Deadlines
Party Affiliation Deadlines
Polling Places
State Specific (ex. text "nj" to "ronpaul" for text alerts about what you have to do get Ron Paul nominated in the state of New Jersey)

$200 up front for $100 installment fee and $10 for 10 months? lol

How about $100 or $110 instead of $200. If people like the service, I'm pretty sure you will receive $10 per month you need easily.

Which service provider will you be using?

thanks

My service provider (Cricket) you can only text to a full 10 digit number. Will there be a way to sign up online?

(this is also why I cannot vote in the text polls)
