Please at least skim both articles or my response won't make any sense.

Ron Paul Hit Piece:

Anti-War Article

And here is my response. Enjoy :D!

As chairman of Students for Ron Paul, I would like to personally thank Dave Mekelburg and the rest of the Michigan Daily staff for the extremely positive article “What War?” about Congressman Ron Paul. I am especially impressed that you talked about the concept of blowback and its effects. As you are all aware, Dr. Paul is the only candidate actively discussing the importance of that topic. I am even more impressed that you understand the severe economic repercussions of funding the Iraqi occupation, just as Congressman Paul does and repeatedly discusses. As I'm sure you are also all aware, Dr. Paul is the only candidate remaining besides Gravel that supports an immediate withdrawal. I applaud the Daily for noting of the very unfavorable international opinion of our current president, effectively setting him up as the opposite of Ron Paul, who has a huge international support base, including a London chapter of grassroots campaigners with 144 members and a rally in front of the European Union in Brussels that drew supporters from all over Europe. I would like to also thank you for your compliments about Students for Ron Paul specifically and the other 15% of students that voted for Dr. Paul in the Michigan primary for caring about the Iraq War. Thank you again for this very positive article on Dr. Paul.

I do vaguely remember another article written by an associate news editor calling Dr. Paul and his ideas both “scary” and “crazy.” I also vaguely remember an endorsement by this paper for John McCain, who has gone on record say we should “make it a 100” more years in Iraq. I’m not a medical health professional, but I do believe schizophrenia is still considered “crazy.”

The author of that hit-piece must make his professors proud. He's a nice little success-story for the socialist-minded educators that dominate the halls of education.

One thing's for sure. He is awfully easy to scare!

Given the thread title, I was loathe to open it. But I did and was glad.

Excellent response. Turning the table on those who would ignore or smear Dr. P. - and in such a cheeky way - is just the ticket!

Nice response. I read the article. This guy Mekelberger doesn't really have a clue. He doesn't seem to have any sense of the intent of the Founding Fathers and the Constitution. He equates limiting government to neglect and alienation of the citizenry. He doesn't understand the Yin-Yang- like relationship between governmental power and personal liberty.

He wants everyone to be one, big happy family, but ignores the notion that individuals need to be individuals and that when individuals are free to be who they are they have the best chance for their talents to benefit the greatest number.

In a TV interview, the interviewer asked Ron Paul if there was a country that he thought served as a good model for other countries. He responded "Switzerland" because no one seems to know who the president was.

Oh, how I would love to wake up in the morning knowing that the actions of the government were as inconsequential to my life as the clouds floating above in the sky.

If I had the chance to talk with this guy, I'd tell him what my signature says.

"So shut up. Pay your taxes."

Way to present an argument.

Sigh.

Great response. David Mekelburg is extraordinarily ignorant. Shittiest article ever.
