Ron Paul invites Dennis Kucinich to a cabinet level post in his administration
Today, 3:39 PM

Here in Alaska earlier today Ron Paul was interviewed on news radio AM 750 KFQD, this morning between 10:05 and 10:25am. I called in and --as the very first question put to Ron Paul during the broadcast-- asked him:

"Dr. Paul, Congressman Dennis Kucinich just announced he is dropping out of the presidential contest, so you will be the lone candidate remaining in the race who is not corporately funded. On Feb. 5th here in Alaska all those people who were intending to caucus for Kucinich would like to still be able to caucus for a candidate who is not corporately funded, upholds the constitution, and opposes oil wars. You and congressmen Kucinich agree on many significant issues. So, my question is, in a Ron Paul presidential administration would an invitation be extended to Dennis Kucinich for him to fill a cabinet level position?"

To briefly paraphrase congressman Paul's answer, he said that yes, he has high regard for Dennis Kucinich, considers him a personal friend as well as a respected colleague, and would look for Dennis Kucinich to take just such a leadership role particularly in the areas of foreign policy and (domestically) with regard to the preservation of American civil liberties -areas on which he considers Dennis Kucinich to be highly knowledgeable and on which they agree regarding policy. Ron Paul was very respectful, complimentary, warm, and enthusiastic regarding Dennis Kucinich.

Ron Paul's full comments on a cabinet post for Dennis Kucinich in a Ron Paul presidential administration may be heard in their entirety direct from his own lips to your ears sometime around 6:00pm tonight when the podcast update for today's Mark Colavecchio show is posted at the KFQD website. Here is the link to the podcast-

[Alaska time is one hour earlier than Pacific coast time, so 6pm in Alaska is 7pm in California]

PS: I think I may have been in error about Ron Paul being the last candidate remaining who is not corporately funded: Mike Gravel is still in the race and I think I have heard he refuses corporate money as well.

Paul refuses corporate funding or hasn't been offered corporate funding? I couldn't imagine him finding it wrong as a libertarian. Gravel would make a great cabinet member as well...

Let's hope this doesn't get out there too much. The last thing most Republicans want to hear about a Republican candidate is that they want Dennis Kucinich in their cabinet.

Is this really necessary?

It’s nice in an intellectual bipartisan way, but it sucks for RP getting the GOP nomination... Kucinich in many ways is a symbol of what is rotting the Nation, rampant Socialism.

The Constitution is the primary block to a welfare state, Kucinich picks and chooses which parts of the Constitution to follow, probably worse than ignoring the whole thing outright.

Associating with Kucinich will further alienate Paul from the GOP voter. The net gain in Kucninich voters will not exceed the net lose in GOP voters. This is a question best addressed after the nomination… in the General Election.

So maybe you guys don't understand, but this is a subforum for welcoming Kucinich supporters. You are either trolling or just creating divisiveness. I don't post in the Welcome Fred supporters subforum for a reason - I don't identify with Fred Thompson.

I do, however, think Kucinich is rad.

It is true that Kucinich is not liked by the hard core neocon right wingers. That is totally ok. You know why? Because Ron Paul is also disliked by them!!!

The great thing about Ron is that he is liked by moderate folks across the board, by anyone that studies his platform. It isn't just his message that is winning people over either, but also his integrity and honesty. Two of the same traits that Kucinich also possesses.

I have always been republican, and I would certainly LOVE to have Kucinich in Paul's cabinet!!!

He specifically stated that such a role would be limited to the two areas where the agree: War in Iraq/Terror and Domestic Civil Liberties. I have no problem with Kucinich heading up agenda on Domestic Civil Liberties because he and Ron Paul are in agreement on the issue.

Kucinich is also despised by the disaffected old guard Conservatives, whom in reality found the base of our support.

I know this is difficult for many to understand who spend much time on these forums, but these forums do not reflect the demographics of the people who vote for us.

Take if from someone who has done a lot of campaign work on the ground, Ron Paul's base is the paleo-conservatives, not Truthers, not anti-war hippies, not the pro-pot voter, freaking REPUBLICAN old style conservatives. In fact, this is EXACTLY what Ron Paul is himself. Please keep this in mind here, and even more importantly when out in the real world.

Please, Kucinich detractors, stay the Hell out of the Welcome Kucinich Supporters Sub-Forum. You're NOT helping.

Stay away if only to keep your own blood pressure under control. :D

SWEET! I was hoping that Kucinich would run with Paul, but I didn't think he would get a role in his cabinet.

tough call...I would just not mention him, and then bring him in on the post for civil liberties, non-economy. But you are right, associating now for that is a bad idea...Later is fine. If we are still planning a repub nomination kucinich endorsement is a death kiss. We shouldn't be seeking out his supporters all that fervently either, but if they come aboard so be it.
