Ron Paul on the Second Amendment

Ron Paul has always been my first choice, but I have also always admired Fred Thompson's staunch support of Second Amendment rights.

If you are like me and believe that the Second Amendment is one of our most important rights given in the Bill of Rights, then please take a look at some of Ron Paul's credentials on the right to Bear Arms.

I urge you to take a look at his record, and see that Ron Paul is the strongest defender of the Second Amendment running for the Presidency now that Thompson has dropped out.

He does not have a record that sways with the state he's running in, such as Giuliani, or Romney do. Ron Paul wants an un-hindered Second Amendment, and he is very serious about protecting it.

I am also an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor (Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun/Home Firearms Safety/Personal Protection) and Range Safety Officer. So the Second Amendment is important to me.

Ron Paul has the best record on the Second Amendment of any of the candidates.

I have been wishing and waiting for a Ron Paul presidency since 1984.

I don't know for sure that Fred Thompson owns a weapon requiring a tax stamp, but he darn sure answered that debate question in the right way......

Either:
He doesn't own one but stands strongly on philosophical principle that the .gov shouldn't know whether he does or not; or,


He does own one and telegraphed that, if elected President, he'd work toward removal/repeal of the licensing requirement for weapons (and accessories!) presently affected.
Regardless, at that point it became clear to me that he and Ron were not just mere "fellow travelers," but were in fact ON THE SAME PAGE with regard to the Second Amendment and the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (which are *not* the same thing).

If Ron doesn't select Fred as his VP, I hope he'll *seriously* consider appointing him as Head of BATFE during their "transitional period" (otherwise known as a "Countdown to Extinction"). Since appointing The Ghost of Neal Knox would probably not pass Constitutional muster, I think Fred would do an excellent job in his place. ;)

Actually, Ron was the strongest on the 2nd Amendment even when Fred was still running. After all, Fred voted for the Lautenberg Amendment, against the Smith "Anti-Brady" Bill, for a measure that would put parents in jail for letting their teenage kids touch an "assault weapon", etc...

He was good on a lot of issues, but nowhere near as consistent and uncompromising as Ron.

Actually, I found Dr. Paul from a gun forum. This was before he declared.
It's funny, I'm watching a guy at work go through what I went through 8 months ago. We both found Dr. Paul by chance, and he's going through the "this guy can't be for real, this is too good to be true" phase.

I'm not into commemorative guns, but if they made a Ron Paul handgun I'd buy one.
