Everytime I click on a youtube to watch, I get a message on the youtube page where the video should be playing that I either have javascript turned off or I need an updated version of flash. I updated the flash, restarted my computer and still the error message.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I never had any trouble playing youtube before last night and did not change any settings that I know of.

I WANT TO HEAR THE WHISPER TO ROMNEY:(:(

If you're using firefox, go into options, content tab, and make sure javascript is checked off

If you are still receiving the JavaScript error when you have it enabled, you should try completely uninstalling the Flash Player, and then reinstalling the most recent version.

Also, please make sure you close your browser when you install/uninstall Flash. Let me know if that ^ works.

I have the same problem on my PC. I have tried to reinstall with no success. Flash (and Youtube) works only one user account. It does not work on the other.

Do you have more than one user account? If so, try viewing YouTube on another user account.

Have you followed all the steps in both these pages?

Also, as lasenorita mentioned make sure you close your browser before uninstalling/installing

Several other things to try if re-installing does not work:

Check to see if javascript is enabled in your browser. Instructions here (http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=57669).

Have you tried clearing your browser cache (http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=58153)? Make sure to log off your YouTube account first, clear your cookies, and restart your browser.

Download Windows Flash Player 9 ActiveX control content debugger (for IE) (http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html) and run it. There's also the Windows Flash Player 9 Projector content debugger. Run that as well.

It could be a firewall or security problem. Temporarily turn off your firewall, refresh the YouTube page and try to play the video, and then make sure to turn your firewall back on.

There's also the trick of holding down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and hitting the refresh button on the screen (with the mouse, not your fist ;) ).
