What do you think he meant by a 'new era'?

I think he meant that the US$ is in the process of losing its status of a reserve currency and the tectonic plates under the financial system are changing. The 'strong dollar policy' is really the suppression of the gold price. That suppression is coming to an end as the 'new era' dawns. The developing countries are starting to hoard gold.

For a more complete treatment of what is changing view some of the videos at RunToGold.com (http://www.RunToGold.com). I particularly recommend this one (http://www.runtogold.com/Run_To_Gold/Videos/Entries/2007/7/10_Robert_Landis%2C_J.D..html).

unprecendented debt and weakness of our currency. basically an entire economy that is driven by debt and inflation.

i think it means something different to everyone. he left it open to interpretation
whether it be the crashing dollar, taking back the government, the country going bankrupt and into recession/depression, falling as the strongest power in the world, government not run by the constitution

its what really matters to you in what is going on now
most of us here however care about every single one of those aspects

Ron needs to stop talking about all the technical mumbo jumbo!! He needs to lay it on the table nice and simple so the stupid people living in Florida can feel like he's talking to them!

Consumption-driven economic growth is OVER. There will be no more debt financing of our economic behavior because America and Americans have a terrible credit rating in the market place.

Once the markets recover, and they will temporarily, the largest investors are going to simultaneously withdrawal their capital. They will convert it to hard assets and growth oriented foreign markets. This is what they are really talking about in Davos now. It is a defensive strategy to extract the maximum wealth from our system and put it in a safer place. America doesn't produce anything anymore and that is a problem.

When our market collapses, and it will, within 12 months I think, then Americans will become savers rather than spenders. There will be no capital in the markets for years to come. If you want to buy a house or a car, you will have to work hard and save for it. No debt financing. When you have saved enough, then you will be able to go to the seller and buy stuff with your savings.

The shock is coming soon and it will be a new era indeed.

I agree that his response was rather cryptic. With his knowledge of economics, answers like his are unnerving, but most of us know the day of America's collapse is rapidly nearing which is why we fight so hard for his candidacy.
