View Full Version : My Campaign Flier

AMack

What do you guys think of my flyer? I just made it today. I live in MA, so I didn't focus on some of the things that democrats might not find appealing, like gun rights. Instead I focused on the war issue and how Ron fights corporate welfare, overregulation, and monetary policy and how they hurt the poor. Once I've got a completed product I plan on handing it out along with the tri-fold fliers I've been printing off.

Dr. Ron Paul
10 Term Republican Congressman
The Only Republican Running to Oppose the Iraq War
Ron Paul…
Believes in the Constitution
• Voted against and continues to vote against the war in Iraq. Even Hillary can’t say that!
• Supports a noninterventionist foreign policy: No false or preemptive wars which ruin our security.
• Is a tireless defender of individual liberty.
• Votes for personal privacy and against government secrecy.
• Fights to give our state and local governments more control over our schools, rather than large, inefficient bureaucracies far away in Washington, D.C.
• Fights to protect free speech in all its forms.

Fights for the Poor and the Middle Class
• Seeks to fight poverty by lowering taxes and stopping inflation.
• Proposes legislation to end the Federal Reserve Act, which places our American dollar in the hands of the Federal Reserve, a deceptively-named private bank owned by banking elites.
• Fights against corporate welfare and government overregulation, which benefits big businesses and allows companies (such as those in our health care industry) to raise prices, making health care more difficult to afford.
• Fights so-called “Free Trade Agreements” like NAFTA, CAFTA, and the WTO, which hurt the American job market.
• Advocates the free market and free trade, the very best way to keep commodity prices low, reducing poverty.
• Has never voted for an unbalanced budget.

Is a Man of Principle
• Has never once voted to raise congressional pay.
• Has never taken a government-paid junket.
• Does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program
• Returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the US treasury each year.

Can Win the Nomination!
• Draws support from Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and Libertarians because all parties are attracted to his anti-war, pro-constitution, pro-limited government message.
• Has more cash-on-hand than John McCain
• Received 14% of all donations made in the last fundraising quarter.
• Has enormous grassroots support, including a massive online support base and over 20,000 YouTube.com videos made by Ron Paul supporters, dedicated to the congressman himself.

Nice. Clear, understandable and to the point.

Very Nice, could I use the text you have put together and add my own graphic?? I would like to pass these out here locally.

I would mention the military donation statistics too.

I would switch this line under:
Can Win the Nomination!

Put "Republican, democrate,...." PUT REPUBLICAN first..... as that is is prime base, if you put anything else first, it makes it look like he isn't really a republican..

actually, I might put "Republican, independant, democrate..."

AMack

Thanks for the input! I'll add in the military donation statistic and rearrange the order of the parties to include republican first.

And yes, you may use my text for anything you like.:D

Very nice.

1. I would also change your reference to Dr. Paul's Youtube channel to the following:

http://www.youtube.com/RonPaul2008dotcom

Since they are going to have to type it in, it's easier than the ? marks, etc.

2. I highly recommend you do not direct people just finding out about Ron Paul to this forum. I think it will drive many of them away. It is WAY too much for someone who is just in the investigation stage.

Point taken. I was a bit weary of this as well. You're probably right, though.

You really did a nice job on this, though. I live in a rather liberal town and I think I'm going to try it out. The categories you came up with were genius. :)

I personally like anti-interventionalist better than anti-war

It seem to me you kinda contradict yourself here:

• Fights so-called “Free Trade Agreements” like NAFTA, CAFTA, and the WTO, which hurt the American job market.
• Advocates the free market and free trade, the very best way to keep commodity prices low, reducing poverty.

His opposition to those doesn't really have anything to do with the job market. It seems weird to say he is against 'free trade' because it hurts the job market, and in the next sentence to say he for free trade because it helps the poor.

AMack
08-01-2007, 01:59 PM
Perhaps I should elaborate by saying that NAFTA, CAFTA, etc. are not really free trade, but rather managed trade?

AMack
08-01-2007, 02:03 PM
For example...

• Fights so-called “Free Trade Agreements” like NAFTA, CAFTA, and the WTO, which prevent us from managing our own trade.
• Advocates the free market and real free trade, the very best way to keep commodity prices low, reducing poverty.

Making a distinction between free trade and managed trade would be good. I did it on my saved file but not in my post above.

AMack
08-01-2007, 02:10 PM
I like that one. I omitted the pro-life issue primarily because it may turn many democrats off before they have a chance to read the rest of the flier. Pro-life also doesn't tell the whole story of his stance, which is the repeal of Roe v Wade and a return of social issues to the states.

One other thing you left out is his stance on the IRS and income tax...

I have won over many people with he wants to end the income tax - they see it as a 25% pay raise and like it a lot.

AMack
08-01-2007, 02:14 PM
Well I try to avoid that given that my audience is primarily liberal democrats. There are a few neighborhoods in my town that are more republican. I'll probably modify my flier slightly again to include more about low taxes for those. At the moment I'm focusing on different neighborhoods.

AMACK, GREAT job with this. It is ALL about knowing your audience. I'm a college student, so I have avoided handing out the very conservative slim jims. Instead, I have won many college students (typically more liberal than the average person) on the War issue.

Ron Paul voted against the War in Iraq when Hillary and Edwards did not!
You brilliantly used the rhetoric of the left by saying that Dr. Paul is a man of the people who opposes corporate subsidies, war, and attacks on civil liberties

nice

Great job with this. In the fundraising section one thing that I think appeals to most of the likely Ron Paul voters would be a mention of the fact that most of his donations have come from ordinary individuals rather than large corporations who are trying to buy his loyalty. I wish I had the statistics to give you, but I know I have read about it somewhere and been impressed.

I also agree with what the other person said about not plugging this forum to the uninitiated.

I agree. He does not fight for special interests. The only interests he cares about are the interests of the American people!

In MA, you might want to mention that he voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment, so it respects their right as a state to decide who can marry. (I live in MA, too).

Just my two cents take it or not.

I learned in libertarian candidate school that you should never mention the other candidate’s name. Ever.

Change the "Even Hillary can’t say that!" to something like "No other candidate can say that!"

Change the "Has more cash-on-hand than John McCain" to something like "has more cash on hand than at least 5 other candidates" (or however many he has more than). Or something like that.

John McCain (and for that matter Hillary Clinton) is small change. You don’t want to compare yourself to small change.

I would also add his "Hope for America" slogan to the opener.

Ron Paul ~ Presidential Candidate ~ Hope for America

Can someone put this presentation into a professional format? I would love to have this in a brochure or large push card.

How can this not appeal to every single American? It appeals to socialists, anarchists, conservatives, liberals, libertarians, and best of all the mega middle.
